"Decentralized" means that you are NOT tied to a single big-shot company hosting everything on a single server. Anyone (like us!) with the knowledge and infrastructure can self-host their own Matrix server. Free apps like Discord are typically run by a large-scale company interested in selling your data for money.
THPSGoat is interested in giving users an open alternative. By using the Matrix ecosystem, you can take better control of your privacy and reduce reliance on big corporations.
🌐 Decentralized
Matrix is decentralized, meaning that anyone can host their own server.
By using a process called federation, servers are allowed to seamlessly interact with each other.
There is no single company or provider making demands for the entire platform.
🔒 Secure
End-to-end encryption can optionally be enabled, for those focused on security.
Private messages (like DM's) are encrypted by default.
💾 Multi-Platform
Matrix is simply the framework. There are many ways to connect and use Matrix!
